The SSD worked right out of the box, no formatting was needed at all. It also has rubber feet for use in a desktop environment. The SSD is encased in a frosty iMac like silver case which is very high quality. The cable supplied has magnetic baluns installed to make sure the signal is clear and interference free. The connection to the drive is done via the supplied one foot long USB 3.1 cable which appears to be a proprietary cable with USB 3.1 on one end and some other connection on the other. Compabilible usb for mac update#
Highly recommend this drive to update an older computer and very easy to set up. After connecting, then following the formatting instructions and then moving all of my system to and setting the SSD as the StartUp Drive, everything has been faster in starting up and running and has been so the past few weeks. It was a couple of weeks before i was able to feel secure enough when my computer started up and seem safe enough to proceed.
The drive arrived in less than two weeks. After searching, and checking reviews of suggested drives i bought the OWC Envoy PRO USB 3.0 960GB SSD External.
